One thing they could have controlled was how they handled the situation. Also, I thought it was bad planning to have Deadmau5 playing at the same time as Jay-Z like they did. To take advantage like that seems unlike what I would expect from Goldenvoice. Speaking of control, how about that planning for the inevitable mass exodus? Oh wait, there was none. It was only less terrible on Sunday night, because many of the audience left before the final act. The thing that took the longest was due to the fact that cars and people were sharing the road, thus we were all driving/walking at a walking pace, no matter the potential. One thing they could have controlled was how they handled the situation. I waited through a goodly portion of an artist who it turns out couldn't make it, but that wasn't announced until quite a while after the artist was supposed to start playing. There were some other problems some people ran into that I heard about, such as running out of wristbands and a botched artist switch, but I wont go into any of that since I didn't experience it at all.
Here's the bottom line:
It's hard to pass up the basic fact that the acts that an audience member was able to see an amazing number of great bands over a three day period. It's almost too much. All "bads" taken into account, I would have rated amazing, but the mismanagement could easily have been avoided so easily (after 10 tries already), and the pass idea just doesn't make sense given the idea behind the Local H Festival.
